WhatsApp plans to bring Stories-like feature to chat list for iOS

Hello Dear Friends welcome to Gadgetninety today in this article we are talking about WhatsApp plans to bring Stories-like feature to chat list for iOS. Taking a cue from this, the messaging app launched new features in March 2022 to improve the WhatsApp voice message experience.

At present WhatsApp users can only react to messages using six emojis – Like, Love, Laugh, Surprised, Sad, and thanks. With this feature, WhatsApp users can react to messages with any emojis on the keyboard.

San Francisco, Aug 21 (IANS) After launching several new features this year, Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out the ability to watch Status directly from WhatsApp’s chat list for iOS users.

WhatsApp for iOS is always working on a handful of new features. Over this year, the app introduced Reactions, the ability to migrate the chat history from iOS to Android (and vice versa), and many more other features.

According to WABetaInfo, the beta version 22.18.0.70 is bringing the ability to view Status updates within the chat list. It has been released to certain beta testers, and therefore, it is still not available to everyone.

Using this feature, which is similar to Stories, users can publish pictures and videos that disappear after 24 hours.

Recently, Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced three new privacy features on WhatsApp, giving users more control over their conversations and added layers of protection when messaging.

Status has been around for a few years now. This Stories-like feature lets WhatsApp users post photos and videos that disappear in 24 hours directly within the app.

While it’s not as popular as Instagram Stories, this function could be useful in markets where people use the app to sell services or products.

Screenshot blocking was one of those features and was under development on WhatsApp beta for iOS, and has not been spotted on Android beta by the WhatsApp beta tracker website WABetaInfo.

When the recipient tries to take a screenshot to view once images and videos, the screenshot will be automatically blocked, but the sender will not receive any notification.

As of now, it seems only a small portion of beta testers were able to try this feature. With the Status feature on the chat list, not only it’s a big push for this function, but it could also be a way for WhatsApp to insert ads while users watch Status photos/videos – just as it happens with Instagram Stories.

Fortunately, WABetainfo says users will still be able to choose whether or not they want to see Status posts directly in the chat list so, as of now, users will have a choice.

When the recipient tries to take a screenshot to view once images and videos, the screenshot will be automatically blocked, but the sender will not receive any notification.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a Whats App story?

If you like the way Snapchat or Instagram Stories lets you post photos, videos, and text messages in a sort of fancy slideshow to share with your friends and family, you can do essentially the same thing in WhatsApp as well. It’s called WhatsApp Status, where you can share content and see what’s new from your contacts.

Who viewed my WhatsApp status secretly?

It’s at the bottom of the screen, just above an eye-shaped icon. Doing so will expand the icon into a list of people who have viewed your status. If you see “0” next to the eye-shaped icon, no one has seen your status yet

How long does WhatsApp status last?

24 hours

Status allows you to share text, photo, video, and GIF updates that disappear after 24 hours, and that is also end-to-end encrypted. In order to send and receive status updates to and from your contacts, you and your contacts must have each other’s phone numbers saved in your phones’ address books.

How does WhatsApp subscription work?

The way WhatsApp used to make money was through a subscription model. It cost $1 to download and then $1 a year going forward. Meta eventually removed the $1 fee and made WhatsApp a free service, with the idea that consumers would communicate with businesses through it and businesses would pick up the cost.
